Manufacturing a Human-Sized Dog Bed
Plufl approached Lincelli with a product concept that sat outside the standard pet-bed catalogue: a dog bed enlarged to create a shared relaxation space for people and pets. The idea was visually distinctive, but increasing the scale introduced practical questions about support, shape, sewing, assembly and shipping volume.

Turning the Idea into a Manufacturable Structure
The first stage was to translate the concept into details that could be sampled and approved. The team reviewed the overall dimensions, lounging area, bolster proportions, target feel, cover fit and packing direction. At human scale, the centre needed to provide comfortable support across a larger area, while the surrounding structure needed to retain the enclosed character of a dog bed.
Foam, filling, fabric and sewing could not be developed independently. A change in foam thickness affected cover fit; bolster construction affected the final shape and carton volume; seam placement influenced both appearance and assembly. Lincelli coordinated these decisions as one finished-product project.
Sampling, Revision and Approval
The physical sample allowed Plufl and Lincelli to review dimensions, foam response, fabric tension, seam positions and the transition between the centre and bolsters. Revisions were incorporated into the sample direction before bulk manufacturing.
Once the product requirements were approved, Lincelli aligned the materials and production details with the confirmed sample. Foam processing, sewing, assembly and finishing were coordinated to keep the intended form clear across production.
The cooperation was managed through defined review points. Product details were discussed before sampling, visible and structural issues were recorded during sample review, and confirmed changes were carried into the production reference. This gave both teams a clearer basis for checking materials, workmanship, finished appearance and packing before the order advanced.
Packaging and Bulk Shipment
Because the product was oversized, packaging was considered during development rather than after production. Lincelli reviewed the relationship between product construction, compression, carton dimensions and recovery after opening. The finished goods were packed and prepared for bulk shipment under the direct-supply project.
